A powerful political rock song, about the struggles of Native America.
Starts out slow and ambient, builds to a heavy peak. Nice
guitar solo and vocal harmonies.
How is it we can ignore
All those who huff on heaven's door
Their final bed the bank in which they fall
Antifreeze and freezing cold
Will kill the mind and chill the soul
And gain control 'til none remains at all
Chorus:
And don't you know that where we stand
Cannot be owned by any man
Whoever comes to buy and sell the sun
Will visit only darkness on the land
History has been reversed
Rewritten 'gainst those that were first
To love a land of water, earth, and sky
All in the name of destiny
From genocide at Wounded Knee
To every wide-eyed child we've caused to die
Chorus
Imprisoned those who dared to try
To gather strength and unify
Against the force that forced them from their home
But dignity runs proud and deep
And as ye sow, so shall ye reap
Be careful how you sleep, the time has come
Chorus
