Drifting
Life was rich, all was sweet
Thought I hadn’t a care
‘Til the sand ‘neath my feet
Spun from glass into air
Now I’ve nowhere to go
Every day’s just the same
Like the tide’s ebb and flow
Rushing low whence it came
Drifting, lost at sea
Ghost ship beckons, calls to me
No horizon can I see
All I’m sure of’s uncertainty
Paused in place, trapped in time
Day and night pass as one
Without reason or rhyme
Rising moon, setting sun
Oh, will I get ashore
Do I care; do I dare
Cling to dry land once more
Unsure that it’s still there
Better yet, let the sea
Float me far from the beach
For the fog calls to me
From beyond reason’s reach
